Why does my cat love the carton box of the toy more than the toy I bought for her?

1) Seeking Sense Of Security
They find a place to hide when they feel stressed. Boxes help cats feel safe. They have four walls around them, so it's tougher for another creature to sneak up on them. The closeness of the box might even remind cats of how they felt when they were with their mons as kittens, interestingly enough. This can help reduce stress.
2) Keeping Themselves Warm
Cats have a higher body temperature than humans (about 38-39 degrees Celsius). A comfortable temperature may be colder for cats. So they look for boxes for a warmer space. Boxes can provide insulation that helps them retain their body heat.
3) Serving Their Hunting Instinct
Boxes are like shelters to cats as an excellent hunting point that allows them to attack, rest or protect themselves. In the wild, cats are predators. Predators will hide and watch...stalking...waiting for the right time to jump out and ambush their prey. Our domestic cats no longer need to hunt for survival, but it sure feels good to play like it.
Last but not least, boxes are cosy to sleep in. Cats spend up to 18 hours every day sleeping, so finding the perfect spot is important. When you may see a simple cardboard box, your cat sees a safe, luxury cave that promises warmth and protection.
